Every spring, the greatest landscape designers present spectacular ephemeral gardens in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London. What is the Chelsea Flower Show?

Organized by the Royal Horticultural Society, the show has been held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea since 1913. For five days, it brings together the country's finest landscape designers, nursery owners, and florists. It is also a major event for British society: the royal family often visits before it opens.

The display gardens

The "Show Gardens" are the heart of the show. These ephemeral gardens, built in just a few weeks, are judged by a jury that awards gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as the title of best garden of the show. Each year, they then set the trends in English gardening.

The Great Pavilion

Under this large tent, dozens of nursery growers display their finest plants: roses, peonies, orchids, and rare plants. It's the perfect place to discover new varieties and chat with the growers.

The big last-day sale

Finally, on Saturday evening, a bell announces the sale of the plants on display. Visitors then leave with armfuls of flowers: a very popular and often lively moment.

How to get tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show?

Tickets are sold only in advance, on the official RHS website. For 2027, sales opened in October 2026, first for members, then for the general public. Prices vary depending on the day and time of entry. Thursday and Friday tickets often sell out first.

Want to enjoy the quieter days? Becoming an RHS member gives you access to the first two days, reserved for members. However, avoid unofficial resale sites.

How to get to the Chelsea Flower Show?

The event is held in the Chelsea district of southwest London. The nearest tube station is Sloane Square, about a ten-minute walk away. However, there is no parking for visitors, so public transport is recommended.
