Around Bath Abbey

This is the heart of the market. The chalets surround the Gothic abbey and Abbey Churchyard, right next to the Roman baths. Moreover, the illuminated abbey provides the most beautiful backdrop in the market at nightfall.

Abbey Green, Milsom Street and the surrounding streets

Our tips for a successful visit

First, come during the week if possible: on Saturdays, the crowds become very dense in the narrow streets. Second, leave the car behind: the city recommends park-and-ride facilities, and London is only about 1 hour 30 minutes away by train from Paddington station.

Furthermore, book your accommodation several months in advance, as hotels in the city center fill up quickly. Finally, pack warm and waterproof clothing: in December, temperatures often range between 3 and 8°C.
