Edinburgh, lanes and mysteries
Arrival in Edinburgh.
Your immersion begins in the old town, with its cobbled streets and medieval facades. On the Royal Mile, stop in front of Bakehouse Close, which serves as the backdrop for the clandestine printing works of a certain Scottish hero.
Stroll to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, whose history is closely linked to the Jacobite uprisings, before visiting Edinburgh Castle, symbol of Scottish power.
For a botanical touch in tribute to the heroine's passion for medicinal plants, a walk in the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh.
Overnight in Edinburgh.
Falkland & early castles
Drive north to the charming village of Falkland, Inverness of the 1940s on screen. Its central square and old houses immediately transport you to the world of the saga.
Continuation to the spectacular Doune Castle, a medieval fortress used as the ancestral castle of a famous clan. One of the most recognisable places on the route.

Le château des Fraser & departure
Morning: departure towards Midhope Castle, about 40 minutes away west of Edinburgh, near South Queensferry.
This 15th-century castle, isolated in the middle of the fields, is the home of the Fraser clan on screen. Although you can't visit the interior (it's outside only), the atmosphere is very strong: the austere facade, the rural setting, the feeling of isolation... A real “fan” moment.
